Once we are happy that all pollutants have been removed from the vehicle it will be crushed and scrapped. This process can only be carried out by an authorised treatment facility (ATF) who have all the equipment to comply with the 2003 regulations.
Keeping your cars registration plate
If you wish to keep your registration number, this will need to be processed before you scrap your car. You can find details of how to do this on the direct.gov website.
Certificate of destruction
The End-of-Life vehicle regulations 2003 require that if you want to scrap your car you may only do so at an authorised treatment facility (ATF).
The ATF will issue a certificate of destruction (COD). The document terminates your responsibility as the registered keeper of the vehicle.
